In the first half of 2011 a small group of us launched Empowered by Light with the mission to promote solar energy use. It was an amazing feat, that our small but dedicated team, managed to launch and a non-profit, fundraise a significant amount of money and deploy thousands of solar lanterns around Zambia in just several months. The project successfully brought clean, renewable light and energy into schools and clinics in the western province of Zambia. EBL is administering an impact assessment a planning it’s future.

This project has given new meaning to the notion ‘it takes a village.’ We received essential support from ZEEC, Rabobank, Global Green, Warner Philips, Prince Carlos, Sungevity, Cliff Bar, Josh Fox, Mark Ruffalo and Adrian Grenier.
